Happy Women’s History Month!

This newsletter is a little different than most. Instead of sending you recipes this week, I wanted to share a fun graphic I made that chronicles a very brief history of women and food. I wanted to add so much more but I thought it was important to highlight these amazing milestones during Women’s History Month. Plus, one of my blog’s themes is learning so, I hope you learn something new after reading this.

Women have often been cast aside in the culinary world as sous chefs or told they are better suited to be in the kitchen cooking for their families, not leading high end restaurants or being the face of a well established food brand. Luckily, we’ve come into a time where women are slowly being let in where they were shut out before. We now have women chefs running the show, opening new an innovative restaurants and using their platform to elevate others that are often left out of the conversation.

Whenever I go out to eat, I make it a point to do a little research to find out who owns the restaurant and what their story is. It makes going out to eat that much more meaningful. This month, I encourage you to pick a woman owned restaurant or try the recipes of some of your favorite female chefs to get a better understanding of their journey. Hopefully, one day, women chefs will be alongside male chefs competing for best chef accolades regardless of gender. Because in the words of Dominique Crenn “a chef is a chef.”

Thanks for following my journey!

Don’t forget to tag me when you cook my recipes. I love seeing how your meals turn out. If someone you know would enjoy this content, don’t be shy about passing it along. Sharing is caring. But, don’t share germs, wash your hands ya’ll!!
