Eat: Farmhouse Kitchen Thai
Thai restaurants can be somewhat watered down to cater to American tastes but Farmhouse Thai is not one of those restaurants. The words that come to mind when I think of Farmhouse Thai are bold, big, flavor-forward and colorful. The chef and owner is big on spice so it’s easy to see why everything tastes larger than life here.
One of my favorite dishes here is the Bangkok style herbal rice salad. The crispy fried rice is served with toasted coconut, peanuts, shredded green mango, crispy shallots, lemongrass, sliced long beans, chili, kaffir lime, dried shrimps and a sweet yet sour tamarind dressing. Splurge for the grilled river prawn pad thai, the prawns they serve are as big as your hand. The hat yai fried chicken come out with a delicious curry sauce and their famous blue rice. The blue color comes from the pea flowers that are used in the cooking process.
Everyone that works here is dressed in colorful aloha shirts and it’s a great place to celebrate birthdays, holidays or just to dine with a bunch of friends. It’s one of the Thai restaurants that stands out among the others.
